PsyFi App Prototype

OBJECTIVE:

Develop a prototype app for a customized partient portal for PsyFi TMS, a Behavioral Health Clinic located in Edina, MN. During the project, I took the lead on the majority of the designing and prototyping components.

Phase 1: Research

We began by conducting research: both secondary, web-based competitor research, and primary research interviews with two members of the PsyFi provider team and one of their patients. We also sent out a survey to more of their patients in order to gain a better understanding of user needs. Based on this deta, we determined that the design must:

  • Facilitate communication between patients and providers
  • Allow patients to record and track their mental health progress

Based on the survey results, we developed a User Persona and User Flow Diagram in order to model the average patient's experience with PsyFi:

Phase 2: Brainstorming and Mockups

Based on my team's research synthesization, I developed an initial prototype design for the app. Using Figma, I created a fully clickable prototype which could be loaded onto a personal phone:

We then moved into the Usability Testing phase, where we monitored and interviewed potential users regarding their use of the app in order to make it more accessible and user friendly. The main three feedback points we received were:

  • Users having difficulty with page navigation
  • Users wanting a more dynamic layout with additional scrolling

Based on this feedback, I created a new prototype:

Outcomes

As a result of our collaboration and determination, my team and I were able to deliver a functional app prototype to our client within the time frame which met the needs of both providers and patients. Through this project, I gained extensive experience in User Interviews, digital prototyping, Usability Testing, and leading a project-based team.
